About Me

Hello! My name is Sofia Uribe, and I'm an actress. Here's my story! I was born in Monterrey, Mexico on February 20, 1998. My family later moved to Texas and raised me here, in the Greater Houston area, thus, I speak both Spanish and English fluently. I've always loved singing, dancing, and acting from such a young age, but I began to develop a more serious interest while in middle school. I started off doing choir in the 6th grade and later began to pursue acting in high school (middle school didn't have a good theatre program lol).

I later went on to continue my theatre education in college.

I started college at Wharton County Junior College in Wharton, Texas where I got the opportunity to start growing as an actress. I got to perform in many fun productions while there! In the spring of 2019, I received my Associate of Arts degree in Drama. The following semester, I transferred to Texas A&M University-Commerce to pursue my Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with an Acting/Directing emphasis. While I was there, I got to grow a lot more, not only as an actress, but as a human; I experienced a lot of trials and tribulations in my acting career, and I learned a lot more about the industry. I completed my undergraduate program and received my degree in the fall of 2021, graduating Magna Cum Laude. In December 2022, I made my professional theatrical debut in Right Angles with Apprentice Productions! I continue to pursue my love and passion for theatre and acting in general, continuously attending auditions and searching for workshops across the Houston, Texas area.

My next performances are in Peril on the High Seas or... Let's Get Together and Do Launch from August 4-27 2023 with Cast Theatrical!

My goal as an actress is to take part in the expansion of diversity in theatre spaces (and maybe someday in film and voice-over). I'm a brown-skinned Latina, and I'm also bisexual! In recent years, there has been a growth in Latinx and LGBTQ+ representation in the media, but there's still so much room to grow. I hope to continue to grow as an actress and a creator and take part in that growth in many ways!
